May 04, 2023:
Southern Cross Healthcare, was one of four winners at the RLDatix Safer Awards 2023 – a showcase for outstanding safer care for patients and staff. Southern Cross Healthcare gained national recognition by picking up the awards for Safer & Operationally Sustainable Organisation.
RLDatix launched the Safer Awards programme this year to celebrate and recognise excellence in delivering safer care for both patients and staff. The awards showcase the achievements and innovations of RLDatix customers and partners within the last 12 months.
The awards were presented on at the end of the first day of the People Summit Asia-Pacific in Melbourne. The event is designed for Health and Aged Care organisations in Governance, Risk, Compliance and Workforce, across Australia and New Zealand. People Summit Asia-Pacific brings together a community of customers with leading academics and experts, to discuss current challenges and provide innovative solutions for overcoming them.
The Safer & Operationally Sustainable Organisation Award is for a health and care organisation that applies a holistic approach to ensuring operationally sustainable initiatives that support their organisation, workforce and people they care for. This approach should be underpinned by an intention to create a safe care setting for all.
Judges of the RLDatix Safer Awards said: “The initiative has helped to create a culture where safety, risk management and reporting are everyone’s responsibility, making staff feel able to report and confident that action will be taken.”
Haley Petkovich, National Quality and Risk Advisor at Southern Cross Healthcare, accepted the award on behalf of Southern Cross Healthcare and says she’s proud to see this recognition for the project. “This award is fantastic recognition of the work our team and the wider Southern Cross Healthcare group put in to make this commitment to safety in our hospitals, especially at a time when the wider health system was incredibly stretched due to Covid-19.”
Speaking about the awards, Margaret Wright, RLDatix Managing Director, APAC, said: “Empowering staff to feel confident and comfortable to report incidents and take action takes great dedication and a lot of time. The achievement of the team to create a culture of safety across 16 Hospitals, in six months during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic is outstanding. This recognition is greatly deserved, we celebrate you and the highly commended organisations, with the full RLDatix community and beyond.”
