RLDatix Supports Staffing and Workforce Updates Proposed for the 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Survey
CHICAGO, IL, December 17, 2024: RLDatix, the leading global provider of connected healthcare operations software and services, submitted public comments last week in support of The Leapfrog Group’s Proposed Changes to the 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, specifically lauding revisions calling for greater specification in the collection of data related to ICU staffing and the nursing workforce.
We believe these updates will enhance the ability of hospitals to demonstrate their commitment to staffing excellence, improving outcomes for critically ill patients and supporting the physicians who provide this vital care – all of which are strongly aligned to our mission of enabling safer healthcare for all.
The proposed changes include splitting ICU Physician Staffing into two subsections for adult (Section 5A) and pediatric (Section 5B) units and updates to nursing workforce metrics (Section 5C). The differentiation between staffing in adult and pediatric ICU units acknowledges the distinct demands of each care environment, enhances accountability and allows stakeholders to better evaluate hospital performance.
The proposed nursing workforce updates, which include provisions such as the adjustment of qualifying sitter hours and changes to patient day calculations, were highlighted as critical steps toward more accurate reporting.
“These updates represent a significant step forward in aligning patient needs and workforce strategies with the realities of today’s healthcare environment,” said Tim McDonald, Chief Patient Safety & Risk Officer at RLDatix. “We’re proud to support Leapfrog’s efforts in ensuring the most accurate collection of data that health systems can leverage to deliver consistently safe and reliable care to all patients.”
