RLDatix Acquires Transparent Health Consulting; Appoints Patient Safety & Risk Management Expert Dr. Tim McDonald to Executive Team

As we move to the next generation of patient safety, I’m incredibly excited to announce that RLDatix has added Dr. Timothy McDonald as our Global Chief Patient Safety & Risk Officer.

Continuing our strategic growth, RLDatix has acquired Transparent Health Consulting, a firm that focuses on the implementation of communication and patient safety resolution programs in order to respond to and prevent patient harm. This approach is based on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) Communication and Optimal Resolution (CANDOR) toolkit by providing health delivery organizations with the appropriate information and education for implementing patient safety and risk management best practices.

With the acquisition of Transparent Health Consulting and the addition of Dr. McDonald to the RLDatix team―along with his experience helping hospitals and health systems implement the tenet of CANDOR―we have now added a core competency that will bring together the hearts and heads of health delivery organizations around the world. Dr. McDonald’s proprietary approach—our proprietary approach—to patient safety and risk management, combined with compassion and sincerity, strengthens healthcare delivery organizations and creates harmony within their cultures. With over 30 years of Patient Safety experience, the knowledge and needs of our customers is never more present than right now!

Dr. McDonald is a pediatric anesthesiologist and lawyer. Working with several of his colleagues with funding from a grant by AHRQ, Dr. McDonald served as the lead architect for the CANDOR consulting toolkit. His passion is being open and honest with patients and families when care doesn’t work out as planned because communication & transparency is the right thing to do. Through his experience in leadership roles as a patient safety officer, attorney and policy change advocate, he understands that it is important to care for the caregivers as well as the patients when unexpected outcomes happen.
